Nuttall Leads Wrestling at Doug Parker Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Freshman Dylan Nuttall (Levittown, Pa.) placed fourth in the 125-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State University wrestling team at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

The Bears finished 16th in the team standings with 31 points. Nuttall accounted for 15 of the 31 points while junior Anthony Cote (Danbury, Conn.) tallied 7 1/2. Cote went 4-2 out of the 157-pound weight class.

Nuttall won his first three bouts by technical fall (17-2), pin (4:25) and major decision (9-0) to advance to the semifinals. He dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Matt Morris of Williams College in the semis before bouncing back with a 5-1 victory over Collyn Dorner of East Stroudsburg University in the consolation semifinals. In the third place match, Nuttall dropped a 7-3 decision to Evan Krumheuer of Johns Hopkins University.

Cote split his first two matches to move to the consolation bracket. He then reeled off three straight triumphs including back-to-back pins over Armand Vaziri of Rhode Island College and Francis Corvino of Trinity College to advance to the consolation quarterfinals. Cote ended the day with a 12-6 setback to Leo Wortman of Stevens Institue of Technology.

The Bears are off until Wednesday, December 2nd when they host Johnson & Wales University at 7:00 PM.
