Wrestling Opens Campaign at RWU Quad

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team opened the 2015-2016 season at a quad meet hosted by Roger Williams University on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears went 0-3 at the meet with a 45-6 Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) setback to the host Hawks, a 26-21 defeat to SUNY Oneonta and a close 26-25 PWL loss to Western New England University. The match with WNEU was tied after the ten bouts and decided by criteria.

Freshman 125-pounder Dylan Nuttall (Levittown, Pa.), junior 165-pounder Anthony Cote (Danbury, Conn.), senior 197-pounder Hiago Fontoura (Hudson, Mass.) and senior heavyweight Casey Enderlin (Pasco, Wash.) each finished 2-1 on the afternoon.

Nuttall earned a 6-5 decision over Tim McLinden of Western New England as well as a forfeit victory against Oneonta. Fontoura pinned both Jake Genereux of Roger Williams and Oneonta's Matt MarinoCote recorded a 6-5 win over Dan DeCarlo of Oneonta and pinned his opponent from Western New England. Enderlin pinned Oneonta's Adam Groesbeck and picked up a forfeit win against Western New England.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to the University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 PM dual match with the Huskies.
