SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Paul Sughrue (Methuen, Mass.) placed second in the 133-pound weight class to lead the Bears' wrestling squad at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

Sughrue went 4-1 on the day including a semifinal round pin (5:59) over Christian Vallis of Johns Hopkins.  Sughrue dropped a 7-3 decision to Nathaniel Giorgio of Coast Guard Academy in the championship bout.

Sughrue is now 8-2 on the year and 22-8 over his first two seasons at BSU.

The Bears placed 12th in the standing with 43.0 team points. Roger Williams University (164.5 pts) captured the team title followed by Williams College (134.0 pts) in second place and Stevens Tech (116.0 pts) in third.

The Bears are off until December 5th and 6th when they compete at the prestigious Messiah Petrofes Invitational.
