BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior heavyweight Ricky Caruso has been selected to the 2013-2014 All-New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) First Team.

Caruso posted a record of 38-8 this season with 76 takedowns and 11 pins.  He earned All-Northeast Region honors and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships by placing third in the heavyweight class at the Northeast Regional Tournament.

At the NCAAs, Caruso placed eighth to become just the third All-American in program history joining John Marsh (2010) as well as BSU Hall of Famer and two-time All-American Craig Buckley (2002, 2004).

Freshman teammate Paul Sughrue (Methuen, Mass.) was named as an honorable mention on the All-NEWA Team.  In his first season of collegiate wrestling, Sughrue went 14-6 with five pins, two tech. falls and 36 takedowns before suffering a season-ending injury.
