Caruso Leads Wrestling at Trinity Quad

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Senior heavyweight Ricky Caruso (Waltham, Mass.) won a pair of matches to lead the Bridgewater State University Bears at a wrestling quad hosted by Trinity College on Saturday.

The Bears (3-12) dropped a 34-9 decision to host Trinity in the opening match of the day and then lost to Rhode Island College by a score of 37-9. Bridgewater's final match against Coast Guard Academy was cancelled.

Caruso improved his record to 31-4 (.886) on the season as he recorded a 2-1 win over Kyle McGuire of Trinity followed by a forfeit victory in the setback to RIC. Caruso entered the week ranked second in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) individual rankings.

BSU junior 125-pounder Brett Reed (Mansfield, Mass.) picked up a forfeit win against Trinity, while freshman Colin Harty (Plymouth, Mass.) added a 5-4 triumph at 149 over RIC's Chris Pecora.

Next Saturday, four BSU grapplers will be competing at the NEWA Futures Tournament hosted by Roger Williams University.
