Wrestling Falls to Trinity, 26-14, in NEWA Tournament Consolation Round

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- #14 seed Trinity College downed 11th-seeded and host Bridgewater State University, 26-14, in the consolation round of the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Headlock for Hunger Dual Meet Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Tinsley Center.

After double-forfeits at the 125 and 133-pound weight classes, Trinity won five of the eight remaining bouts.

The Bears (1-6) received wins from junior Matthew Armano (Methuen, Mass.) at 157, sophomore Anthony Cote (Danbury, Conn.) at 165 and senior Ricky Caruso (Walpole, Mass.) at heavyweight.

Armano pinned his opponent just under 4 1/2 minutes into the match, while Cote posted an 18-3 technical fall victory.  Caruso improved his record to 24-3 (.889) on the season with a 4-3 win over Kyle McGuire.  The bout featured two of the top four ranked heavyweights in New England.

Bridgewater will compete in the 13th place match later this afternoon against Western New England University.
