Wrestling Falls to Western New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University wrestling team dropped a 48-3 decision to host Western New England University on Sunday afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house.

The match marked the home opener for the Golden Bears of Western New England who won five of six bouts and received four forfeit victories to coast to the win. The Golden Bears improve to 2-1 in dual meets while the Bears drop to 0-5.

BSU senior Sean Fields (Norwalk, Conn.) notched the Bears' lone points of the afternoon with a 5-2 win at the 157-pound weight class. Fields leads the Bears with six wins on the season.

Freshmen Stephen Colling (Stoughton, Mass.) and Zach Bantle (Adams, Mass.) highlighted the Golden Bears' victory with pins at the 125-pound and 165-pound weight classes, respectively.  Classmate Mike Frizinia (Shelton, Conn.) added a 22-7 technical fall triumph at 197.

In upcoming action, the Bears entertain Plymouth State University on Friday evening at six in their first home match of the season.
