Wrestling Places 16th at Doug Parker Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team finished 16th at the Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday at the Springfield College Field House.

Centenary College captured the team title placing first out of 16 teams.  The final order of finish included Centenary with 166 points, followed by Roger Williams University (137.5), host Springfield (128.5), Wesleyan University (128) and Johns Hopkins (85.5) to round out the top five.

Stevens Tech (83) placed sixth followed by Rhode Island College (71.5), Western New England University (57), Plymouth State University (49), Williams College (48.5), AIC (42.5), Trinity College (39), MIT (33.5), Coast Guard (22.5), Springfield Tech (18.5), and Bridgewater State (7).

Senior 157-pounder Sean Fields (Norwalk, Conn.) and junior Josh White (Cooperstown, N.Y.) at 141 each posted 2-2 individual records to lead the Bears.  Fields earned an opening round 14-9 victory over Azizbek Babakhanov of Stevens and pinned his opponent from Springfield Tech. in the consolation round.  White posted a 5-4 decision over freshman teammate Jason Pendergast (Methuen, Mass.) and a 7-4 triumph over Caleb Hall of Plymouth State in the consolation round.

Chris Burdge, a 157-pounder from Johns Hopkins, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Leo Wortman of Stevens Institute of Technology had the most pins with four.
