Four Grapplers Named to PWL All-Star Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four Bridgewater State University wrestlers have been selected to the 2011-2012 Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) All-Star Team which was announced just recently by Director of Media Relations, Dave Kemmy.

Senior Andrew Frazer (West Hartford, Conn.), junior Patrick Walsh (Stoughton, Mass.) and sophomore Jonathan Murray (Bay Shore, N.Y.) were each named to the All-PWL Second Team, while sophomore TJ Vallee (Augusta, Maine) was an honorable mention selection.

Frazer posted a record of 21-7 (.750) with 19 takedowns, 29 near falls, 20 escapes and three pins wrestling out of the 197-pound weight class.  He placed fifth at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championships to garner All-New England status.

Walsh captured the heavyweight title at the NEWA Championships and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  He went 17-3 (.850) after joining the Bears over the semester break with 15 takedowns, 18 near falls and six pins.

In 37 bouts this season, Murray went 24-13 (.649) competing at the 125-pound weight class.  He also notched 51 takedowns, 16 reversals, 18 near falls, 30 escapes and five pins.  Murray placed third at the NEWA Championships to earn All-New England honors.

Vallee finished 13-3 (.813) with 18 takedowns, eight escapes and four pins wrestling at 197.

The Bridgewater State wrestling team posted a dual meet record of 8-14 with a 1-4 mark in the PWL standings.  The Bears placed sixth at the season-ending NEWA Championships.
