OLIVET, Mich. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team posted a 1-3 record at the Olivet College Comet Duals on Saturday.
The Bears (1-5) dropped a 35-6 decision to host Olivet in their opening match and rebounded with a 24-15 triumph over Alma. Bridgewater fell to Wisconsin-Whitewater, 31-6, and Trine, 25-24, in the final two rounds of competition.
Sophomore 197-pounder TJ Valle (Augusta, Maine) went a perfect 4-0 on the day with three decisions and a win by fall over his opponent from Alma. Valle is now 9-1 (.900) on the season.
Sophomore heavyweight Ricky Caruso (Waltham, Mass.) finished 3-1 including a 19-5 major decision victory in the Bears' win over Alma. Caruso improves to 8-1 (.889) on the year.
The BSU wrestling team is off until December 2nd when the Bears compete in the Messiah Petrofes Invitational.
