HOBOKEN, N.J. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team opened the 2011-2012 season with a pair of losses at the Stevens Ducks Duals held in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Bears dropped a 31-15 decision to host Stevens Institute of Technology, 31-15, and fell to New England rival Rhode Island College, 36-14. 

Senior 184-pounder Michael Fenner (Bergenfield, N.J.) paced the BSU grapplers as he went 2-0 in the two matches with a 5-3 win by decision against Stevens and a forfeit victory versus RIC.

Sophomores TJ Valle (Augusta, Maine) and Ricky Caruso (Waltham, Mass.) and senior Andrew Frazer (West Hartford, Conn.) all finished 1-0 on the day.  Valle posted a 7-0 triumph at 197 and Caruso battled to a 3-1 heavyweight decision in the loss to Stevens, while Frazer earned a 17-0 tech. fall victory at 197 against RIC.
