BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Jerry Joubert has been selected as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Rookie Wrestler of the Week.

Joubert, who hails from Framingham, Massachusetts, posted a record of 3-2 last week competing out of the 141-pound weight class.  Among his three victories was a big 7-5 win over Nick Cucciniello of Johnson and Wales which helped the Bears earn a 19-19 tie with the Wildcats.

In 18 bouts this season, Joubert has posted a record of 7-11 with 14 takedowns, six reversals, 15 escapes, seven near falls and two pins.  He ranks third on the team in near falls and is tied for third in reversals.  Joubert is also tied for sixth in both pins and wins.

The Bridgewater State wrestling team is currently 2-4-1 on the season in dual meet action and 1-0-1 in the Pilgrim Wrestling League.  The Bears are also ranked fifth in the latest NEWA Division III regional poll.
