BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College wrestling team dropped a pair of matches with New York University and Rhode Island College this afternoon at the Tinsley Center in Bridgewater.
The host Bears lost to NYU by a score of 26-15, and fell to regional rival RIC, 26-18. Rhode Island defeated NYU in the other match, 35-11.
Senior captains John Marsh (New Bedford, MA) and Frank Cammisa (Danbury, CT) were the only Bears' who went undefeated on the afternoon as they both went 2-0.
Marsh improved to 19-1 on the season and cemented his status as the top-ranked 149-pounder in New England. He knocked off Gabe Gleason of NYU, 13-6, and then edged RIC's Kevin Sutherland, 3-2. Marsh avenged his only loss of the season with the victory over Sutherland. Heading into today's matches, the two were tied for the top ranking in New England in the 149-pound weight class and were fifth and tenth respectively in all of Division III.
Cammisa edged Matt Magill of NYU, 3-2, and then posted a first period pin over RIC's Brandon Guarino.
