BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior Ethan Raymond was named the Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) Wrestler of the Week.  

Raymond, who hails from Middlebury, Vermont, posted a 4-0 record at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meet Tournament on Sunday as he helped Bridgewater State finish in eighth place out of 15 teams.  

Seeded eighth at the tournament, the Bears won their opening match with a 22-19 victory over ninth-seeded Norwich University.  BSC then dropped a 40-6 decision to number one seed Williams College, followed by a 36-10 loss to fifth-seeded Springfield and a 25-20 defeat at the hands of number seven University of Southern Maine.  

Competing out of the 165-pound weight class, Raymond recorded three wins by decision at the tournament as well as a major decision victory after moving up to 174 in the match against Southern Maine.  

In 31 bouts this season, Raymond has a record of 21-10 with 55 takedowns, 28 escapes, 14 near falls and seven pins.  He currently leads the team in pins and is tied for second in near falls.  Raymond is also third in wins, takedowns and escapes, and fourth in winning percentage (.677).
