Cammisa Leads Wrestling Team at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Junior Frank Cammisa (Danbury, CT) placed first in the 149-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State College wrestling team to a seventh place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday.

Johnson & Wales University won the tournament with a score of 142.5 points.  After nearly 12 hours of wrestling, the Wildcats won by just two points over Messiah College (140.5 pts). Host Roger Williams placed third with 120.0 points, followed by Rhode Isand College (115.5)and Wesleyan University (106.5).

Cammisa, who has advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships in each of his first two seasons at BSC, defeated Stephen Eberle of Johnson & Wales, 8-2, in the title bout to capture the 149-pound title.

Sophomores Michael Fenner (Bergenfield, NJ) and Ryan O'Rourke (Norton, MA) were the next highest finishers for the Bears as they each placed fifth in their respective weight classes at 174 and 184.

The Bears open their dual meet schedule on Wednesday night on the road as they travel to Gorham, Maine to take on Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) rival Southern Maine at 6:30 PM.
