Cammisa Eliminated at NCAA Wrestling Championships

NCAA Division III Tournament 149-Pound Bracket

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Bridgewater State College junior Frank Cammisa was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Wrestling championships on Friday. 

Competing in the 149-pound weight class, Cammisa opened with a 15-3 loss to top-seeded Willy Holst of Augsburg.  He then dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Tyler Branham of The College of New Jersey.

Cammisa, who was making his third consecutive appearance at the national championship meet, completed the 2008-2009 season with a record of 23-5 with seven pins.  In three seasons at Bridgewater State, he has won a total of 82 matches which is good for sixth all-time in the school record books.  Cammisa also has 39 career pins to his credit which is tied for second all-time.

Cammisa is one of just two wrestlers in program history to make three appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.  Craig Buckley also accompished the feat from 2002 to 2004 wresting out of the 184 and 197 pound weight classes. Buckley earned All-America honors in both 2002 and 2004.
