BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior Frank Cammisa was chosen as a wild card selection to compete in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships which are being held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 6-7.

Cammisa, who is making his third consecutive appearance at the national championship meet, has posted a record of 23-3 this season with seven pins wrestling out of the 149-pound weight class.  He has won a total of 82 matches over his three seasons at Bridgewater State which is good for sixth all-time in the school record books.  Cammisa also has 39 career pins to his credit which is tied for second all-time.

A native of Danbury, Connecticut, Cammisa went 3-2 at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championship Tournament this past weekend.  He dropped an 8-5 decision to #2 seed Kevin Sutherland of RIC in the winner's bracket final and bowed to Sutherland again in the championship round, 2-1, in overtime.

Cammisa is one of just two wrestlers in program history to make three appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.  Craig Buckley also accompished the feat from 2002 to 2004 wresting out of the 184 and 197 pound weight classes. Buckley earned All-America honors in both 2002 and 2004.

There were a total of four wrestlers from the NEWA who were awarded wild cards for the national meet. 174-pounder Greg Hurd of Wesleyan University, 197-pounder Joe Silverman of MIT and heavyweight Chris Brown of Springfield College earned the wild cards along with Cammisa.
