BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Johnson & Wales University captured the 2008 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meet Tournament championship as the Wildcats defeated Rhode Island College, 33-7, in the tournament title match.
Seeded second, the Wildcats went 4-0 in the tournament with victories over MIT, Springfield College and Williams College to advance to the championship match. This marks the third NEWA Dual Meet Tournament title for the Wildcats as they also won in 2002 and in 2006.
RIC was the tournament runner-up as they went 2-1. Third place went to Williams College who knocked off host Bridgewater State in the third place match.
