Pilgrim Wrestling League All-Stars Announced

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College head wrestling coach, Mike Kenney, captured Coach of the Year honors and eight BSC wrestlers were named league all-stars to highlight the Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) All-Star Team which was just recently released.

Kenney directed the Bears to a 19-6 record this season including a 5-1 mark in the PWL. The 19 wins set the program record for most team victories in a season eclipsing the previous mark of 17 wins (2000-01).  BSC also had six All-New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) performers and two wrestlers advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships. Coach Kenney has amassed a school-record 63 wins in his six-year coaching career at Bridgewater which began in 2001.

PWL First Team All-Stars are freshman Frank Cammisa (149, Danbury, CT), senior John Fralick (174, Woburn, MA) and junior James Quinlan (184, Methuen, MA).

Cammisa posted a 35-11 record this season, captured the 149-pound title at the NECCWA Championships and became the first freshman wrestler in BSC history to advance to the NCAA Division III Championships.  His 35 wins as well as his 21 pins are both school freshman records.

Fralick wrapped up the 2006-2007 campaign with an impressive record of 47-5 as he tied teammate John Marsh for the BSC single-season wins record.  He placed second at the NECCWA Championships to earn All-New England honors.  He also set a school record with 94 team points in dual meets this season.  Fralick ends his career as the Bears' all-time wins leader with 119 career victories.

Quinlan finished 43-6 on the season (third all-time at BSC) and captured All-New England honors with a second place showing at the NECCWA Championships.  Quinlan set the school single-season and career records for pins as he registered 23 pins this season and now has 54 in just three seasons at BSC.  He is also third all-time at Bridgewater with 106 career victories.

Sophomores Eric Rosado (125, Foxboro, MA) and John Marsh (141, New Bedford, MA), senior Tom Hennessey (157, Raynham, MA) and junior Tim Ferreira (285, Danbury, CT) are the Bears four representatives on the PWL Second Team.

Rosado, who was injured for a portion of the season, posted a record of 17-5 which earned him the number four spot in the final rankings of the NECCWA 125-pound weight class this season.

Marsh tied Fralick for the most wins in a season record as he posted a 47-12 mark this season.  He also set a Bridgewater State record with 137 takedowns this year.  He placed third in the 141-pound weight class as the NECCWA Championships and was a wild card selection for the NCAA Division III Championships.

Hennessey, who was also a Pilgrim Wrestling League Scholar-Athlete All-Star, finished the season with a 36-16 record.  He ends his career after producing 78 wins at BSC which is good for seventh all-time.  He also made a name for himself in the 06-07 season finishing third in program history for single-season takedowns with 118.

Anthony D'Amico (197, Shrewsbury, MA) a junior who found himself to be an honorable mention on the PWL All-Star Team, was also named as a scholar-athlete all-star for the second consecutive year.  He finished the 2006-2007 campaign with a record of 19-13, and now stands tenth all-time in career wins at BSC with 73.
