BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior Tim Ferreira has been named the Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) Wrestler of the Week for his performance at the Plymouth State quad meet this past weekend. This mark the second time that Ferreira has been named wrestler of the week as he also earned the honor last season. 

A native of Danbury, Connecticut, Ferreira won all three of his matches at Plymouth State on Saturday, including a 4-3 victory over the number two ranked wrestler in New England, as he helped the Bears sweep a quad match with Norwich University, MIT and host Plymouth.  BSC defeated Norwich, 32-10, knocked off MIT, 31-12, and completed the sweep with a 32-12 win over Plymouth. 

Ferreira, who has won 17 of his last 20 matches, defeated Chris Pastrana of Norwich, 9-3, in the Bears' opening match, and then earned a 4-3 decision over MIT's Sean Jameson.  He capped off the day with a 4-3 win over Shaun Wilbert of Plymouth State, who was ranked second in New England in the heavyweight class. Ferreira is currently 29-14 on the season with a team-leading 35 escapes. He has 64 wins to his credit over his three seasons at Bridgewater State which is good for 12th all-time in the BSC wrestling record books.
