Quinlan, Cammisa Capture Pilgrim Wrestling League Weekly Honors

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- A pair of Bridgewater State College wrestlers captured Pilgrim League honors this week for their performances at the Citrus Invitational and the New York University Duals.  Junior 184-pounder James Quinlan was named the Pilgrim League Wrestler of the Week, while freshman 149-pounder Frank Cammisa earned PWL Rookie Wrestler of the Week honors.

A native of Methuen, Massachusetts, Quinlan captured the 184-pound title at the Citrus Invitational and then went 4-0 during day two's dual meet portion of the event.  He also posted a perfect 4-0 record at the NYU Duals this past weekend.  All told, Quinlan went 11-0 at the two events with six pins.  He has now won 20 consecutive matches as his win/loss record for the season now stands at 25-1.  Quinlan's six pins gives him 45 for his career as he is now the Bears' all-time leader in that category.  He now also has 88 career victories to his credit which places him fourth all-time at BSC.

Quinlan is currently the top ranked New England wrestler in the 184-pound weight class and is ranked fourth in all of Division III as he climbed up four spots since the last rankings on December 11th.  He is the highest ranked BSC wrestler in the history of the program. Quinlan leads the Pilgrim Wrestling League with a .961 winning percentage and is tied for first in pins with 14.  He is also tied for second in the league with 25 wins, and his tied for third with 12 reversals.

Cammisa, a Danbury, Connecticut native, continued his impressive rookie campaign as he finished with an 8-3 mark with 6 pins at the Citrus Invitational and the NYU Duals.  He captured the 149-pound title during day one of the Citrus Tournament and posted a 7-1 record for the two-day event.  Cammisa, who is ranked fifth in New England at 149, now has 21 wins on the season against just 7 losses, and 14 of those wins are by pin.  Cammisa is not only tied for first with Quinlan in the Pilgrim League with his 14 pins, but he is also just one shy of Quinlan's 2004-2005 school mark for most pins by a freshman in a season.

By going 4-0 at the New York University Duals, Bridgewater (7-3) has now won five straight matches heading into Wednesday night's match with WPI.  The Bears 23-16 victory over 24th ranked NYU is arguably the biggest win in BSC wrestling history.  Bridgewater is now ranked 26th in all of Division III, the highest ranking ever in the history of the program.  The Bears also picked up an impressive 26-14 Pilgrim League win over Southern Maine at the NYU Duals as well.
