James Quinlan Named Pilgrim League Wrestler of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior 184-pounder James Quinlan has been selected as the Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) Wrester of the Week for his performance last week on the mat for the Bears. 

A native of Methuen, Massachusetts, Quinlan led the BSC wrestling team to a fourth place finish at the prestigious Messiah Petrofes Invitational as he captured the 184-pound championship.  He decisioned nationally ranked Elliot Smith of Springfield College, 6-3, in the title match and also registered three pins during the event.  Earlier in the week, Quinlan also helped the Bears earn a 41-6 win over Western New England College in their first dual meet of the season as he picked up a first period pin against WNEC's Joe Spaziano.

All told Quinlan went 6-0 on the week to raise his impressive season record to 13-1as he is second in the PWL with a .928 winning percentage.  He also registered four pins in his six matches to increase his total to 8 on the season as he is tied for the league lead.

Quinlan is now tied for first place all-time at BSC in career pins with 39 along with Andy Cook (1999-03).  He is also sixth in career victories with 76, one behind Dan MacIntosh who totaled 77 wins from 1997 to 2001.
