Coach Smith return for her second stint as the head coach of the BSU women's lacrosse program in 2013.  She previously directed the team for six seasons from 2006 to 2011.

Erika is a  2005 graduate of Bridgewater State where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in teaching.  She was also a three-sport athlete competing on the varsity field hockey and women's lacrosse teams as well as the club ice hockey team.  

Smith was a four-year starter on the women's lacrosse team from 2001 to 2004 captaining the squad during her senior season.  She recorded 88 goals and 43 assists for 131 points in 63 games, was named a New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) All-Star three times, and earned NEWLA Defensive Player of the Year honors during her sophomore season of 2002.  She was also a four-year starter and three-year captain on the Bears' field hockey team from 2000-2003.  She amassed 13 goals and 16 assists for a total of 42 points in 66 games and was named to both the MASCAC and Little East All-Conference Teams in each of her final three seasons. In 2004, Erika was selected as the Bridgewater State Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Prior to coaching at Bridgewater, Smith was an assistant field hockey coach at Bridgewater-Raynham High School during the fall of 2004, and she was also the head women's lacrosse coach at Oliver Ames High School in Easton during the 2005 season.  Erika has also worked at the South Shore Lacrosse Camp in Weymouth. 

In her first seven seasons at the helm of the lacrosse program, Coach Smith directed her teams to an overall record of 91-35 (.722) as she is the all-time winningest coach in program history.  In 2011, the Bears set the program record for wins in a season as they finished 17-2.  That mark was equaled in 2013 when the squad finished with an overal mark of 17-3.  

Erika has guided her teams to three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances (2010, 2011, 2013) as well as four NEWLA regular season and tournament titles (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011). After the NEWLA was disbanded following the 2012 season, Coach Smith directed the team to both the inaugural MASCAC regular season and tournament championships in 2013. 

A native of Raynham, Massachusetts, Smith is currently a Physical Education teacher at Brockton High School. She received her Master's of Science degree in Physical Education from Bridgewater State in 2008 as well as her Certificate of Advance Graduate Study in Educational Leadership in 2010.

Erika was inducted into the Bridgewater State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.
