BRIDGEWATER, Mass.  --  Six members of the Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2023 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA Division III Academic Honor Roll.

BSU graduate students Delaney Langton (Scituate, R.I.) and Katie Swart (Bridgewater, Mass.); senior Katie O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.); and juniors Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon N.J.), Bridget Lane (Newburyport, Mass.) and Katherine Wrona (Belchertown, Mass.) are among the 964 student-athletes from 173 different Division III institutions to earn the accolade.

To be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students and have earned a cumulative academic grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or greater.

Langton and Swart just completed their first year of graduate school and both check in with perfect 4.00 grade point averages at the grad level. Langton is attending graduate school for mental health counseling and school adjustment counseling, while Swart is working towards a master's degree in elementary education.

O'Brien graduated this past May with a with Bachelor of Science degrees in physical education as she wrapped up her four years at BSU with a cumulative 3.79 GPA. 

Herrington currently sports a 3.72 GPA and is majoring in communication sciences, while O'Brien is a physical education (K-12) major with a 3.95 GPA. Wrona is also a communication sciences major and checks in with a 3.86 GPA.

The BSU women's lacrosse team is also one of 289 schools from across Division I, II, III and the NAIA to be recognized as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for the 2022-2023 academic year. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by teams with cumulative grade point averages (GPA) of 3.2 or better for the academic year. The Bears recorded a team GPA of 3.25 in 2022-2023.
