Women's Lacrosse Posts 21-4 Win over Fitchburg State on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a 21-4 victory over visiting Fitchburg State University on Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.

Ten different student-athletes scored for the Bears who improve to 10-4 on the season and 4-1 in the MASCAC. The Falcons fall to 2-12 overall and 1-4 in conference play with the setback

Bridgewater State led 13-3 at the break and outscored the Falcons 8-1 in the second half. The 21 goals marked a season-high for the Bears.

Junior attack Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) led all players with four goals and four assists, while senior midfielders Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) and Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.), and senior attack Mackenzie Manning (Hingham, Mass.) notched three goals apiece. Freshman attack Jacqueline DeLorey (Westwood, Mass.) checked in with two goals and three assists.

Senior defender Kerrin O'Leary (Millbury, Mass.), junior attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.), sophomore midfielder Emily Hiller (Marion, Mass.), freshman attackers Hayley Carron (Hopedale, Mass.) and Katherine Tracy (Marion, Mass.) also scored the Bears. White found the back of the net twice, while Hiller added two assists and Tracy dished out a helper.

Bridgewater State finished with a 35-12 shot advantage for the game as well as 21-4 edge in draw controls. McDonough and Moynihan led all players with seven draw controls apiece. McDonough also recorded a game-high five caused turnovers.

Junior goalkeeper Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) turned aside five shots as she recorded her tenth win of the season and 24th of her career.

Junior attack Tracy Long (Georgetown, Mass.) paced Fitchburg State with a goal and an assist, while senior netminder Marguerite Belcher (Quincy, Mass.) made nine saves in the setback.

Prior to the game, the Bears honored seniors Ettridge, Manning, Moynihan and O'Leary.

Notes: Ettridge is now tied with Courtney Lennon (2008-2011) for sixth all-time at Bridgewater State in career goals with 194….McDonough is now tied with Taylor Clancy (2011-2014) for ninth all-time in career points with 243….Moynihan moved into fourth place on the Bears' all-time ground ball list as she now has 175 in her career….Moynihan also moved into eighth place among the Bears' all-time leaders in draw controls as she now has 144 in her career….Barner moved into sole possession of fourth place on the Bears' all-time wins list with 24.
