Women's Lacross Downs Salve Regina, 20-8

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Junior Katie DeMaio (Port Jefferson Station, NY) and sophomore Jenny Jones (Framingham, MA) combined for 13 goals and five assists to lead the Bridgewater State College women's lacrosse team to a 20-8 victory over Salve Regina University this afternoon from BSC's Swenson Field.

Bridgewater improves to 8-4 on the season as the Bears have won eight of their last nine games. Salve dips to 3-7 overall as the Seahawks have dropped four of their last five.

BSC tallied the first seven goals of the game and held the Seahawks scoreless for over 15 minutes before junior Angelina Campbell (Falmouth, ME) got Salve on the board at the 14:27 mark.  DeMaio netted four goals during the 7-0 run while Jones had two goals and assisted on two others.  The Bears took an 11-3 lead into the intermission and got up by as many as 13 goals twice in the second half.

DeMaio finished with seven goals and a pair of assists, while Jones tallied six goals, three assists, six draw controls and two ground balls.

Sophomore Courtney Lennon (Medfield, MA) added two goals, three assists and two draws, while fellow sophomore Patricia Maloney (Walpole, MA) chipped in with three goals, three ground balls and three draws.

Senior Nicole Fecteau (Wilbraham, MA) paced the Seahawks with three goals, while freshman Sarah Livingston (Westford, MA) added a pair of goals.

Junior netminder Meghan Griffin (Billerica, MA) allowed just four goals and turned aside 11 shots in 41 minutes as she improved to 8-3 on the season.  Junior Sarah Baker (Summit, NJ) made three saves in goal for Salve.

Bridgewater will travel to Thomas College on Saturday (1:00 PM) for a New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance game with the Terriers.  Salve Regina is also on the road on Saturday as the Seahawks visit Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Curry College at 1:30.
