Shannon Manning Named NEWLA Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third consecutive week, Bridgewater State College sophomore midfielder Shannon Manning has been selected as the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Player of the Week.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Manning  continued her season-long scoring spree as she tallied 10 goals and six assists for 16 points in a 2-1 week for the Bears.

In an 18-10 win over NEWLA foe Castleton State, Manning scored five goals and added three assists as she notched two draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Manning also registered four goals, two assists, two ground balls, and four draw controls in the Bears' 23-12 win over Salve Regina earlier in the week.

Through six games this season Manning currently leads the NEWLA in scoring with 34 points.  She also leads the Alliance in goals with 21 and in assists with 13.

Last season, Manning notched 48 goals and 11 assists for a total of 59 points.  Her career totals through 22 games now stand at 69 goals, 24 assists and 93 points.
