Kylie Grassi Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior forward Kylie Grassi has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The MVP of The Cave Classic, Grassi averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.5 steals and one blocked shot while shooting 82.4% (14-17) at the free throw line to help lead the Bears to the tournament title. The Plymouth, Massachusetts product notched 31 points five rebounds (two offensive), two assists, three steals and a block in a 79-74 semifinal round win over Eastern Connecticut State; and tallied 16 points, two offensive rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block in a 57-40 championship game victory over Emerson College.

Through five games this season, Grassi is averaging 20.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals. She is also shooting 77.4% (24-31) at the free throw line.

Grassi currently leads the MASCAC in scoring and ranks second in free throw shooting. She is also tied for second in made free throws and tied for third in both made field goals (34) and three-pointers (9).

On a national level, Grassi is presently tied for 38th in all of Division III in scoring.

In 80 games over four seasons with the Bears, Grassi has amassed 1,303 points, 338 rebounds, 187 assists, 48 blocks and 160 steals. She is second on the Bears' all-time scoring list trailing only Jenna Williamson who recorded 1,365 points from 2010 to 2014.

The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the seventh of Grassi's career.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 4-1 on the season. The Bears enterain Rhode Island College on Tuesday night at 7:30.
