Kylie Grassi Garners D3hoops.com All-Region Honors

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior guard Kylie Grassi has been named as a third team selection on the 2023-2024 D3hoops.com All-Region One Team.

Grassi, who is making her second straight appearance on the all-region squad, averaged a school record 20.6 points in 26 games this season as well as 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals. She also shot 43.8% (182-416) from the field, 30.3% (30-99) from behind the arc and 75.4% (141-187) at the free throw line.

The Plymouth, Massachusetts product became just the second player in BSU women's basketball history to score 500 points (535) in a season joining Colleen Feeney who tallied 548 points in 2007-2008.

Grassi led the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in scoring, made field goals and made free throws. She also ranked third among the conference leaders in minutes played (36.0 mpg), fourth in free throw percentage, sixth in field goal percentage, seventh in assists, steals and blocked shots (0.7 bpg), eighth in made three-pointers and ninth in three-point percentage.

On a national level, Grassi is presently ninth in all of Division III in made free throws, 16th in scoring and tied for 47th in made field goals.

A three-time All-MASCAC selection, Grassi was selected as the MASCAC Player of the Year for the second straight season as she shared the honor with Framingham State's Gwendolyn Carpenter. She was also selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) All-Region Third Team.

Grassi earned MASCAC Player of the Week accolades three times this season and was named to the NEWBA Team of the Week on five different occasions.

Grassi reached the 1,000-point milestone on January 10th in a 71-33 win over MCLA. On January 23rd, Grassi became the Bears' seventh D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week selection and first since Elisha Homich in 2012-2013. 

In 75 games over her first three seasons in a BSU uniform, Grassi has amassed 1,202 points, 314 rebounds, 179 assists, 46 blocks and 151 steals. She is currently tied for fifth on the Bears' all-time scoring list.

The BSU women's basketball team wrapped up the 2023-2024 season with an overall record of 15-12 including a 10-2 mark in the MASCAC. Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears posted a 105-94 semifinal round win over #3 Westfield State before dropping a 74-62 decision to top-seeded Framingham State in the conference championship game.
