Caroline Tripp Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior guard Caroline Tripp has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Tripp was named the MASCAC Tournament MVP after she averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists during the Bears’ conference title run. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native notched 12 points, eight rebounds and nine steals in an 83-67 semifinal round win over Worcester State, and tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 64-59 comeback victory over Westfield State in the MASCAC title game.

The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the first of Tripp's career.

Through 27 games this season, Tripp is averaging 8.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.8 steals. She is also shooting 45% (100-222) from the floor.

Tripp currently ranks fourth in the MASCAC in assists and seventh in field goal percentage.

In 45 games over two seasons with the Bears, Tripp has amassed 332 points, 189 rebounds, 181 assists, 23 blocked shots and 77 steals.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 21-6 on the season. By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championship, the Bears will compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 11th time in program history later this week.
