Kylie Grassi Selected to NEWBA Team of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth straight week and seventh time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Kylie Grassi has been selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Team of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Grassi averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, three assists and 3.5 steals in a perfect 2-0 MASCAC week for the Bears while shooting 47.5% (19-40) from the floor and 80% (8-10) at the free throw line.

Grassi posted a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds (five offensive) to go along with four assists and three steals in a 77-61 win on the road over Salem State. She also notched 26 points, five rebounds (two offensive), two assists, four steals and a blocked shot in an 88-63 victory over Worcester State.

Through 22 games this season, Grassi is averaging 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.3 steals. She is also shooting 43.4% (135-311) from the floor and 81% (115-142) at the free throw line.

Grassi currently ranks second in the MASCAC in scoring and free throw percentage, sixth in steals, eighth in both assists and field goal percentage, and ninth in blocks (0.7 bpg).

In 44 games over her first two seasons with the Bears, Grassi has amassed 612 points, 181 rebounds, 104 assists, 24 blocks and 82 steals.

Grassi also earned NEWBA Team of the Week honors on November 16th, November 30th, December 6th, January 17th, January 24th and January 31st.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 17-5 on the season and 8-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Westfield State University on Saturday afternoon for a two o'clock MASCAC game with the Owls.
