Kylie Grassi Selected to NEWBA Team of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Kylie Grassi has been selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Team of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Grassi averaged 24 points, six rebounds, three assists, four steals and 1.5 blocked shots in a 1-1 MASCAC week for the Bears while shooting 42.9% (15-35) from the floor, 42.9% (6-14) from three-point range and 92.3% (12-13) at the free throw line.

Grassi notched 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in an 81-24 win over MCLA. She also tallied a career-high 30 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, six steals and two blocks in an 81-73 setback to Framingham State.

Through 20 games this season, Grassi is averaging 17.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals. She is also shooting 42.8% (116-271) from the floor and 81.1% (107-132) at the free throw line.

Grassi currently ranks second in the MASCAC in scoring and free throw percentage, seventh in both assists and steals, eighth in field goal percentage and tenth in blocks (0.7 bpg).

In 42 games over her first two seasons with the Bears, Grassi has amassed 563 points, 166 rebounds, 98 assists, 23 blocks and 75 steals.

Grassi also earned NEWBA Team of the Week honors on November 16th, November 30th, December 6th, January 17th and January 24th.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 15-5 on the season and 6-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Salem State University on Wednesday night for a seven o'clock MASCAC game with the Vikings.
