Kylie Grassi Named to D3hoops.com All-Region One Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Kylie Grassi has been named as a second team selection on the 2022-2023 D3hoops.com Women's Basketball All-Region One Team.

Grassi joins Jenna Williamson (2013-14, 4th Team), Michaela Cosby (2012-13, 1st Team), Shelly DePina (2011-12, 3rd Team), Corey Cuddihy (2010-11, 3rd Team) and Colleen Feeney (2006-07, 2007-08, 1st Team) as one of only six Bears to earn D3hoops.com all-region honors in the 22-year history of the award.

Grassi, the Bears' first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year since Feeney in 2008, averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals in 27 games this season while shooting 42.1% (152-361) from the field, 30.7% (27-88) from behind the arc and 81.3% (130-160) at the free throw line. She ranked second among the MASCAC leaders in both scoring and free throw percentage, sixth in steals, seventh in three-point shooting, ninth in field goal percentage, and tenth in both assists and blocked shots (0.7 bpg).

In 49 games over her first two seasons in a BSU uniform, Grassi has amassed 667 points, 206 rebounds, 111 assists, 28 blocks and 92 steals.

An All-MASCAC First Team selection, Grassi garnered MASCAC Player of the Week honors three times this season, She is the only MASCAC student-athlete to be selected to the D3hoops.com Women's Basketball All-Region One Team.

Grassi helped the Bears capture their first MASCAC regular season title since 2014 and first tournament crown since 2015. Bridgewater State posted a 21-7 overall record in 2022-2023 including a 10-2 conference mark. The Bears advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 11th time in program history and first since 2015, dropping a tough 47-43 decision to #9 Messiah University in the opening round.

This is the 22nd year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team. Division III basketball is organized into ten regions. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team. This reorganization results in approximately 10 additional players being recognized when compared to previous full seasons.

Players from these lists are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams. The men's team will be released March 18, at the national championship game, and the women's team will be released at a predetermined time between the national semifinals on March 18 and the title game on April 1.
