Destiny Fitzgerald Names to All-MASCAC Women's Basketball Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior center Destiny Fitzgerald has been voted by the league's seven head coaches to the 2019-2020 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference Team.

Fitzgerald, who garnered second team honors, is making her first appearance on the All-MASCAC Team.

A native of Medford, Massachusetts, Fitzgerald averaged 13.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots assists in 27 games this season while shooting 50% (161-321) from the floor. She also recorded a team-best seven double-doubles and scored a school single-game record 43 points against Westfield State University on January 18th.

Fitzgerald finished the season as the MASCAC leader in offensive rebounds per game (4.0). She also ranked second in the conference in blocked shots, third in both rebounding and field goal percentage, and eighth in scoring.

In 76 games over her first three seasons in a BSU uniform, Fitzgerald has amassed 715 points, 463 rebounds, 58 assists, 42 steals and 102 blocks.

The BSU women's basketball team posted an overall record of 11-16 this season. Seeded fourth in the MASCAC Tournament with a 6-6 conference mark, the Bears notched an 81-61 opening round win over #5 Salem State University before dropping a 92-59 decision to top-seeded and eventual champion Framingham State University in the semifinals.
