All-MASCAC Women's Basketball Team Announced

2007-2008 All-MASCAC Women's Basketball Team   

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four Bridgewater State College student-athletes have been named to the 2007-2008 All-MASCAC Women's Basketball Team in all-conference voting results released by MASCAC Commissioner Angela Baumann.

Garnering First Team honors for the Bears were sisters, Caitlin and Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI), who are both competing in their final season of collegiate basketball.  Joining the Feeney sisters on the All-MASCAC Team are fellow seniors Justine Farroba (North Attleboro, MA) and Melissa Murphy (Rockland, MA) who were selected to the Second Team.

Caitlin Feeney, who was named the MASCAC Player of the Week twice this season, earns her second career all-conference honor as she was a Second Team selection in 2005-2006. Feeney is averaging 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game.  She currently ranks second in the MASCAC in assists, fourth in both field goal percentage (.462), fifth in scoring and steals, and seventh in free throw percentage (.695) as well as defensive rebounds (4.5 rpg). 

Colleen Feeney is making her second straight appearance on the All-MASCAC First Team. She has been named MASCAC Player of the Week an impressive six times this season and has also been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week twice. 

Feeney is averaging 20.7 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 2.9 blocked shots per game, while shooting 56% from the floor and 74% at the free throw line.  She currently leads the MASCAC in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and blocked shots, while ranking second in free throw percentage.  Feeney is also sixth in all of Division III in rebounding, 11th in scoring, 12th in blocked shots and 19th overall in field goal percentage.

Fellow seniors Farroba and Murphy are making their first appearance on the MASCAC All-Conference Women's Basketball Team.

Farroba is currently fifth in the MASCAC in made three-pointers (35), seventh in assists (2.4 apg), ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.321) and tied for sixth in steals (2.3 spg). She is also averaging 8.3 points per game and is shooting 79% (27-for-34) from the free throw line.

Despite her season coming to an end due to a knee injury, Murphy is second in the conference in steals (3.4 spg) and fourth in assists (2.95 apg).  She averaged 8.7 points per game this season as well as 4.6 rebounds per game.

Bridgewater State enters this week's MASCAC Tournament with a record of 20-4 and an 11-1 mark in conference play.  The Bears, who are the top seed in the tournament, will have a first round bye and will host the semifinals and championship game on Friday and Saturday.  BSC will take on fifth seeded Westfield State in their semifinal match-up on Friday night at 6 PM.
