BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

McBirney led the Bears' men's cross country team to the program's third conference title in the last five seasons and ninth overall this past weekend at the MASCAC Championships held at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster, Massachusetts. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product earned his first MASCAC individual title as he outdistanced the field of 78 runners completing the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:20.99.

The MASCAC Runner of the Week accolade marks the ninth of McBirney's career as he also earned the honor four times during the 2023 campaign.

Following a weekend off, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Division III East Region Championships held at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire on Saturday, November 16th.
