BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Kyle Ackroyd has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

Ackroyd competed at the 49th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend as he covered the five-mile course in a time of 28:06.01. The Charlestown, Rhode Island product placed 162nd out of a field of 283 runners to help the Bears finished 26th in the team standings.

Ackroyd is the Bears' second MASCAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week recipient as teammate Braden Boucher (Bristol, R.I.) also earned the honor on Tuesday, September 6th.

The BSU men's cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th when the Bears travel to Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts for the 26th Annual James Earley Invitational.
