Men’s Cross Country Competes at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Freshman Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) placed 73rd out of a field of 181 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the 26th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday at Stanley Park.

The Bears placed 14th overall in the team standings. RPI captured the team title followed by Connecticut College in second place and Springfield College in third.

Ackroyd covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 28:06.76. Senior Jeffrey Love (Union, N.J.) of Conn. College checked in with the winning time of 24:55.68.

Freshman Braden Boucher (Lowell, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the line. Boucher posted a career-best time of 28:10.80 to finish 80th overall.

Freshman Mitchell Parent (Cumberland, Maine), senior Ryan Goldman (Franklin, Mass.) and freshman Alexavier Almeida (North Attleboro, Mass.) capped off Bridgewater's top five runners at the meet. Parent recorded a career-best time of 28:36.84 to finish 90th, while Goldman posted a season-best time of 28:45.56 to place 95th at the meet. Almeida placed 97th overall as he crossed the line in a career-best time of 28:49.48.

The BSU cross country teams are off until Saturday, October 29th when the Bears compete at the MASCAC Championships hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park.
