Men’s Cross Country Places 26th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team competed on Saturday at the 49th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The meet featured teams from all three NCAA divisions.

Junior Sam Steere (West Kingston, R.I.) was the Bears' top harrier as he completed the five-mile course in a time of 28:00.80 to place 156th out of a field of 283 runners. Junior Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) of Franklin Pierce University won the race with a time of 23:55.23.

The Bears finished 26th in the team standings. UMass Lowell captured the team title followed by Connecticut College in second place and Franklin Pierce in third.

Freshman Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line as he placed 162nd with a time of 28:06.01. Fellow rookie Alexavier Almeida  (North Attleboro, Mass.) checked in with a time of 28:52.95 to finish 194th overall, while freshman Braden Boucher (Lowell, Mass.) posted a time of 29:02.64 to place 199th.

The Bears are off until Saturday, October 8th when they compete at the 26th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University. The meet will take place at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
