BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University freshman Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

McBirney placed fifth out of a field of 113 runners to lead Bridgewater State this past weekend at the Western New England Invitational this past weekend. The Andover, Massachusetts product covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 27:19.0 as he helped the Bears post a fourth place finish in the team standings.

Following an off weekend, McBirney and the BSU men's cross country team will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday, October 30th at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster, Massachusetts.
