LINCOLN, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team placed second at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI-Lincoln on Saturday.
Senior Seth Jefferson (Chelmsford, Mass.) paced the Bears as he finished fifth overall out of a field of 63 runners. Jefferson covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 30:34.27.
Sophomores Joseph Celia (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Robert Moreau (Franklin, Mass.) were the next two Bears across the finish line. Celia finished eighth with a time of 31:14.14, while Moreau grabbed the 11th spot with a time of 31:33.64.
Eastern Connecticut State University placed first in the team standings followed by BSU and Salve Regina University. ECSU freshman Ryan Escoda won the meet with a time of 28:42.55.
Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the NEICAAA Championships held at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
