BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Dallas O'Brien has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

O'Brien captured the meet title as he helped the Bears edge host Eastern Connecticut State University, 29-30, in a dual meet held on Saturday at Mansfield Hollow State Park in Mansfield, Connecticut. The Mansfield, Massachusetts native native covered the 4.2-mile course in a time of 24:05 as he outdistanced the field by 45 seconds.

O'Brien was selected as the MASCAC Cross Country Rookie of the Year during his freshman season of 2011, and earned All-MASCAC honors as a sophomore in 2012.  He also ran a leg on the Bears' conference champion 4x800-meter relay team during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2012-2013.

This Saturday, O'Brien and his teammates will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
