Stephen Wahome Named ECAC Men's Cross Country Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Stephen Wahome has been named as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men’s Cross Country Player of the Week.

Wahome won the individual title to lead the Bears to a sixth place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational last weekend. The Lowell, Massachusetts native completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:43 as he edged Springfield's Anthony Salvucci by one second and MIT's Logan Trimble by two seconds.

Earlier this week, Wahome was selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Runner of the Week.

Last season, Wahome earned All-New England honors with a fourth place finish at the Division III New England Men’s Cross Country Championships and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships.   He was selected as the MASCAC Runner of the Week for his performance at the New England regional meet, and garnered MASCAC All-Conference honors with a third place showing at the MASCAC Championships.

After a week off, Wahome and his teammates will compete at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI on Saturday, September 29th.
