Wahome Wins UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Senior Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) won the individual title to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational on Saturday.

Wahome completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:43 as he edged Springfield's Anthony Salvucci by one second and MIT's Logan Trimble by two seconds.

Senior David Phipps (Attleboro, Mass.) was next across the line for the Bears in 20th place as he posted a time of 25:50, while junior Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) finished 21st with a time of 25:50.  Sophomore Dallas O'Brien (Mansfield, Mass.) recorded a time of 26:22 to place 48th.

Bridgewater placed sixth in the team standings.  MIT won the team championship followed by Springfield in second place and WPI in third.

The Bears, who are off next weekend, return to action on Saturday, September 29th when they compete at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI.
