BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior David Phipps has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Phipps, who hails from Attleboro, Massachusetts, took top individual accolades for the Bears at the season-opening Lt. Travis Fuller Invitational hosted by Mass. Maritime Academy this past weekend.  He posted a winning time of 26:46 over the five-mile layout while leading Bridgewater State to the team title.

Last season, Phipps earned All-MASCAC honors with a seventh place finish at the conference championships.

On Saturday, Phipps and his teammates will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
