WINNECONNE, Wisc. – Bridgewater State University junior Stephen Wahome finished 109th out of 279 runners at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships held at Lake Breeze Golf Club and hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Wahome, who hails from Lowell, Massachusetts, completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:20.77.  He was in 216th place after the first mile but passed 93 harriers over the next three.

Senior Ben Sathre of the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) captured the individual title with a time of 23:44.27, while North Central College (Ill.) won the team championship.

Wahome earned a spot at the national meet by placing fourth at the New England Regionals a week ago at Bowdoin College.  He was the first BSU runner since Avery Bouchard in 2008 to advance to the National Championship meet.
