PAXTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) posted a ninth place finish to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the New England Alliance Championships on Saturday at Moore State Park in Paxton.

The Bears placed fifth in the men's team standings as Keene State College won both the men's and women's meets.

Wahome recorded a time of 27:12.8 as he was the only Bridgewater runner to earn All-New England Alliance honors which goes to the top 20 runners.

Classmate David Phipps (Attleboro, Mass.) was the next BSU runner across the line as he finished 26th with a time of 27:59.8.
