Wahome Captures Roger Williams Invitational Title

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Sophomore Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) captured first place to lead the Bridgewater State men's cross country team at the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday.

Wahome completed the 5k course in 16 minutes and ten seconds to win the meet.

UMass Dartmouth placed first in the team scoring with a low score of 38 points, followed by Johnson & Wales (53), Bridgewater State (66) and Roger Williams (66).

Senior Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, Mass.) finished 12th (16:49), while junior Bill Taft (Hanson, Mass.) placed 13th (16:50) and sophomore David Phipps (Attleboro, Mass.) 18th (17:10) to round out the Bears' runners in the top 20.

The Bears travel to North Dartmouth, Mass. next Saturday for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
