Cross Country Teams Compete at MASCAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College cross country teams competed in the MASCAC Championships hosted by Westfield State College at Stanley Park in Westfield on Saturday.

The BSC women's team posted a second place finish with 44 points, while the men's team finished third with 49 points.  The men's squad was edged out of second place by Fitchburg State which posted 48 points.  Westfield State won both the men's and women's meets.

On the women's side, sophomore Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA) paced the Bears with a second place finish as she posted a time of 19:53.47.  Junior Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) placed fifth overall (20:12.5) while junior Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA) was seventh across the finish line (20:27.59) to round out the BSC harriers in the top ten.

On the men's side, sophomore Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) finished in third place with a time of 27:09.49.  Freshman Stephen Wahome (Lowell, MA) was right behind Taft as he posted a time of 27:09.83.  Junior Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, MA) was the tenth runner across the line (27:48.43).
