Cross Country Teams Each Place 5th at Early Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College cross country teams each placed fifth in their respective meets at the James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State College on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park.

For the men's team, sophomore Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) continued his strong running as he finished eighth overall with a time of 26:55.47.  Freshman Stephen Wahome (Lowell, MA) was the only other men's runner in the top twenty as he covered the 8k course in a time of 27:06.75.

UMass Dartmouth won the men's meet with a score of 72 points.  BSC finished with 140 points to post their fifth place showing. 

On the women's side, sophomore Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA) placed ninth overall as she completed the 5k course in a time of 20:07.41.  Junior Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) was the next BSC harrier across the finish line as she placed 19th with a time of 20:36.38.

The University of Souther Maine captured the women's title with a score of 58 points.  BSC finished with 149 points.
